COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. -- Police are "actively investigating" a Saturday night assault that was recorded and posted online. Video of the fight, uploaded to the website WorldStarHipHop where it has been viewed nearly 1 million times, showed what appeared to be a group of high school-aged teens surround a car in a parking lot near the Cook Out restaurant along the 600 block of Boulevard in Colonial Heights.

In the video, the people outside the car opened the car's door and coaxed the passenger out. Once outside the vehicle, the passenger and one of the high school-aged teens fight. During the fight, the passenger is knocked to the ground and has what appears to be a seizure. Members of the group that surrounded the car yell at the fallen passenger to "get up" and told onlookers he was "just sleeping."

The passenger, who was identified by his father as a Chesterfield high school senior, was knocked unconscious and woke up in the ambulance on the drive to the hospital his father said. The father said his son was kept in the hospital overnight for evaluation and released the following day. He added the teenager would return to the hospital this week for a follow-up appointment.

The incident, which was reported at 7:15 p.m. Saturday, was witnessed by several people who called 911 after seeing what happened.

"I think someone out here is having a seizure," one 911 caller said after she witnessed the fight. "He's lying there and I don't know if he's breathing."

"There was a bad fight down here ma'am. We have an injured gentleman on the ground. We're going to need an ambulance and police," another 911 caller stated.

The passenger's father indicated he believed a social media post about a girl prompted the assault. The conversation between the passenger and the group of people outside the car appears to be about a girl as well.

While police in Colonial Heights have not come out to address the situation, people around the country have as the video spread online.

"I personally wanna fight the dude that think he's tough & after i beat his a**, I wanna fight the driver, and the one wit the camera," signer DeLorean posted on Facebook to his nearly 700,000 fans.

Anyone with information about the video-taped fight was asked to call Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660.
