Big snowfall too tempting to keep some home

RICHMOND, Va. -- The first big snowfall of the season was just too tempting for some folks to stay home Monday night. Despite tumultuous driving conditions, several people ventured out to enjoy the weather.

Jacqulyn Davis and a friend decided to go to a late movie and ended up pushing their car home through several intersections.

“We went to the movies like an idiot to see '50 Shades of Grey,' and we got stuck,” a weary Davis said.

Over at Byrd Park, a group of young adults decided to improvise while sledding, using greased cookie sheets to slide down some of the park’s rolling hills. Eric Markowitz, a Richmond school teacher, says it was all in good fun. Markowitz is enjoying a few days off from school.

In Bryan Park, with its steep hills and scenic beauty, Stephanie Cooper and her young daughter said they couldn’t resist coming out to enjoy the snow.

Running up and down a steep hill while pulling her daughter, Alyssa , on a sled, Cooper exclaimed “Be thankful Mama has her good boots on!”

While Cooper says she’s excited for a mini vacation, many parents acknowledge that they’ll have to get creative in finding things to do with their children over the next few days.
