RICHMOND, Va. -- A Richmond police officer was taken to the hospital after his cruiser was struck by a suspected drunk driver.
The officer was driving north on Chamberlave Ave, near West Fritz Street, at about 9 p.m. Saturday when a car headed in the wrong direction hit the cruiser.
The driver, 47-year-old George W. Taylor, was charged with DUI.
The police officer was taken to VCU Medical Center for overnight observation. His condition has not yet been released.
