HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- A group of Henrico Police officers will make special deliveries to families this weekend before Thanksgiving. The Henrico Police Athletic League will hand out turkey dinners to 210 families in need -- twice as many families as they were able to help last Thanksgiving.
"We had a family come that had three little kids and it was just rewarding because they helped carry things to the car with us," Henrico Police Officer Michelle Sheehan said about the holiday tradition. "It touches your heart just knowing that they're going to able to go home and have a meal."
The police dinner includes the turkey, the fixings and dessert.
The families that will receive the holiday help were selected by Henrico's Department of Social Services and other county organizations.
