HANOVER COUNTY, Va. — The westbound lanes of Mechanicsville Turnpike reopened Saturday morning after an early-morning crash.
Hanover Deputies responded to a single vehicle crash involving a 2011 Toyota Tundra on Mechanicsville Turnpike Turnpike near Spring Run Road at 11:54p.m.
A motorist observed the Toyota off the right side of the west bound lanes of Mechanicsville Turnpike.
Despite the efforts of the motorist to help, the vehicle caught fire, according to the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.
After Hanover Fire crews extinguished the fire, the occupant of the Toyota Tundra was found dead inside.
Investigators have determined that the Toyota was travelling westbound on Mechanicsville Turnpike and ran off the right side of the road, hitting a tree.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
