CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- Chester Road at Paces Ferry Road reopened Thursday morning after a serious crash trapped a woman in her car overnight.

The woman was driving a Honda CRV south on Chester Road, when she crossed the double yellow line, police said.  After she lost control of her vehicle, she ran off the road and into a deep ditch. Her vehicle struck a tree.

Rescue crews used the Jaws of Life to get the woman out of the SUV.

She was taken to VCU Medical Center where she was listed in serious condition.

Investigators said they are looking into whether alcohol played a role in this crash.

The crash happened at about 12:45 a.m. The road reopened before 4 a.m.
