Man rescued after car drives off embankment during chase

HOPEWELL, Va. -- A man was rescued from his car after he drove off an embankment near 7th Street in Hopewell, Hopewell Fire Captain Ellis said.

CBS 6 senior reporter Wayne Covil confirmed a "technical rescue" had to be performed to save the man who was being chased by police.

The chase started in Prince George County and ended when the man drove over an embankment near Captain's Cove Seafood Restaurant and Inn. The man was med-flighted to VCU Medical Center for treatment. His condition has not been released.

Fire crews were working to retrieve the car from over the embankment.

The driver, identified by police as Curtis Harris,  was driving on revoked license. Harris pushed two females out of the vehicle before the crash, according to Hopewell police.

Harris is wanted for other charges in several other jurisdictions, according to police.
