Police investigate South Richmond homicide

RICHMOND, Va. — Richmond Police responded to the south side of Richmond, for shots fired around four Monday afternoon.

When police arrived on scene  they found a victim shot inside a residence in the 5800 block of Westover Village Drive.

That victim was transported to VCU Medical Center with life threatening injuries, said police spokeswoman Dionne Waugh.

The victim later died.

Police identified the victim as Jazztyne Johnson, 30, and he was shot inside his residence.

Detectives do not believe this shooting was random and are following up on several strong leads.

They ask anyone with any information about this incident to please call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000 or text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip. Both methods are anonymous.

At this time there is no suspect description.
