HANOVER COUNTY, Va. -- Investigators in Hanover released the name and mug shot of a pastor arrested for indecent exposure inside his own home.
Jeffrey Y. Harlow, 57, of Guenevere Court in Mechanicsville, was charged with the misdemeanor after a September 4 incident, Hanover County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Chris Whitley said. Whitley would not disclose details into exactly what happened inside the home. He said doing so could hinder the prosecution of the case.
According to arrest warrants, Harlow intentionally made an obscene display of his private parts in a public place or in the presence of others.
"The case law says if you're intentionally exposing yourself in a public area, you can be prosecuted and convicted of indecent exposure," said legal analyst Todd Stone.
Harlow was released on bond Tuesday morning.
A current staff member at Chamberlayne Heights United Methodist Church confirmed to CBS 6 Harlow is the pastor at the church. The staff member did not have prior knowledge of the incident.
CBS 6 made several attempts to contact Harlow at his Hanover home to get his side of the story, but no one answered the door.
Harlow is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 5.
