CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A driver was killed in an early-morning crash along the 6400 block of Jeff Davis Highway in Chesterfield, police said.
"A 2002 Ford Taurus was traveling south on Jefferson Davis Highway and left the road striking two power poles," a police spokesman wrote in an email."The driver of the Taurus, the only occupant, of the vehicle, was transported to VCU Medical Center where he was pronounced dead."
Police said they would release the driver's name once next-of-kin had been notified.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation. The crash happened at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday.
According to Dominion Power, around 1200 customers lost power due to the accident.
Currently 230 customers are without power.
Dominion is working to restore those customers.
