RICHMOND, Va. – A gas leak reported near the intersection of West Cary and N. Robinson Street has prompted an evacuation of some homes in that area of the Fan. The leak was reported about 10:30 a.m., according to Richmond Fire Capt. William Martin.
He said utility crews are working to turn off the gas and urged people to avoid the area.
Robinson and Cary Streets are closed to traffic and could be for several hours, he said.
Martin said he was unsure if city work crews nicked the gas line or if the age of the gas line was an issue in this case.
