CHESTERFIELD, Va. – Police and firefighters responded to the scene of a tractor trailer accident on I-95 South in Chesterfield Sunday morning. The accident happened near the Route 288 exit, and involved a tractor trailer with attached U-haul. The truck overturned and spilled fuel on the side of the road.
As of 9:00 a.m., three lanes are closed on I-95 southbound at Willis Road (mile marker 64) as a result of the accident.
The driver was taken to VCU Medical Center. Police have not released his condition.
The right southbound lanes of I-95 are expected to be closed for several more hours, according to Virginia State Police.
Traffic is backed up approximately 2 miles.
