COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. – A mile-long stretch of the Boulevard in Colonial Heights was shutdown after debris fell onto the road from a passing train.
The impacted stretch is between Temple Avenue and Ellerslie Avenue.
“Due to safety conditions to the travelling traffic resulting from rock ballast that is falling from the CSX overpass over the Boulevard, both northbound and southbound lanes of the Boulevard will be closed immediately to allow CSX crews to remove loose ballast from their tracks,” Colonial Heights Assistant Director of Public Works Brian Copple said. “Southbound traffic will be detoured along Ellerslie Avenue to Conduit Avenue. Northbound traffic will be detoured along Temple Avenue to Conduit Avenue.”
No one was injured, but the situation is expected to take several hours to resolve.
This is a developing story.
