UPDATE: Police make arrest after shooting victim found at Food Lion

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) -Police have arrested a man in relation to a shooting that occurred in the 3000 block of Tinstree Drive on Wednesday, April 30.

CBS 6 first told you that a neighborhood was shut down as police and forensic units investigated a shooting near the Food Lion on Jeff Davis Highway, near Happy Hill Road.

Police responded to the grocery store about 10:45 p.m. Wednesday for a call of shots fired.

Investigators found a male victim in a car in the Food Lion parking lot. He was taken to hospital in critical condition.

The victim, an adult male, was transported to VCU Medical Center, where he is now in stable condition.

Police have arrested Jayvon A. Dennis, 24, in relation to the incident. Dennis, of the 2600 block of Mangowood Drive, has been charged with malicious wounding, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is currently being held at the Chesterfield County Jail.

A neighborhood close to the Food Lion was blocked off as part of the search for the shooter. The neighborhood has since reopened.
