HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WTVR) – A Chesterfield man was arrested and charged in connection with a Sunday afternoon shooting.
Police charged Maurice Antonio Carter, 33, of Marina Dr., with Attempted Robbery, Malicious Wounding, two counts of Use of Firearm in commission of a felony, and Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon.
The shooting victim was “approached by Maurice Carter in front of a residence in the 400 block of Acreview Drive,” Henrico Police spokeswoman Lt. Linda Toney wrote in an email. “Carter brandished a handgun and he and the victim ran towards NewBridge Road. Although the victim was shot in the upper torso, he struggled with Carter.”
Carter suffered minor injuries. The shooting victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Police responded to the Woodpost Townhomes in Highland Springs just after 4 p.m. A CBS 6 viewer reported that numerous police cars were on the scene and submitted the video.
“It’s Sunday, you know, and we don’t need this around here,” one man said. “I hope everybody’s safe, but at the same time, we need to get this out the neighborhood.”
