ALEXANDRIA, Va. (WTVR) – Two people were taken to the hospital following a reported shooting in Northern Virginia, according to Alexandria Police.

“One victim in critical condition. Other has non life-threatening injuries,” the police department tweeted.

Police responded to the 2400 block of Arlington Ridge Rd. before noon Thursday for reports of a shooting. Police remain on scene and that area is blocked off to traffic.

Six schools near the crime scene were put on lock down as a precaution, according to Washington, D.C. CBS news affiliate WUSA9. The lock down has since been lifted.

This is a developing story.
