RICHMOND, Va. (WTVR) - The University of Richmond Spiders held off a furious comeback to defeat the Rhode Island Rams 64 - 61 last night at the Robins Center.
The Spiders were up 18 points before Rhode Island went on a 17 - 0 second half run.
"Nothing is going to be easy. We need to make sure that we are defending and pressing," UR head coach Chris Mooney said after the game. "It's not going to be easy, but it's going to be what we need to do."
Spiders senior Darien Brothers scored 15 points to lead the Spiders in scoring.
Freshman Deion Taylor scored 11 points and freshman Alonzo Nelson-Ododa swatted a career-high five blocks in the win.
The Spiders next game is Saturday afternoon at La Salle.
