RICHMOND, Va. -- Virginia Tech and the University of Virginia's football teams are scheduled to face each other September 19.

The two schools normally square off for the Commonwealth Cup the Friday after Thanksgiving. But 2020 is far from a normal year.

The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its 2020 football schedule -- adapted for the COVID-19 pandemic -- on Thursday.

"All 15 conference schools will play an 11-game schedule, with 10 games against ACC opponents and one versus a non-conference program," a conference spokesperson said. "The 11-game schedule is slated to be played over a 13-week span. Open dates were strategically placed throughout the schedules for maximum flexibility. Each team will play five home games and five road contests in conference play."

Virginia starts its season Friday, September 11, versus VMI.

Virginia Tech plays its first game Saturday, September 12, versus N.C. State.
