RICHMOND, Va. -- Feed More estimates 212,000 Virginians don't have enough food right now -- that's a 31% increase compared to before the pandemic.

They said they’ll likely distribute as much as 40 million pounds of food in 2021 to meet ongoing demand.

Saint Paul's Baptist Church is one of Feed More's 270 partners.

Since the pandemic, the church has served about 1,200 families every week, and they'll be out Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Creighton Campus only handing out 30 pound boxes of food packed with milk, vegetables, fruit, a protein and more. All you have to do is pull up and pick up. No questions asked.

"It's not up for us to question what your need is. We know a lot of people have been out of work because of the pandemic," said Greta Randolph. "Sometime people pull up and will cry and say 'you just don't know. I didn't know how I was going to feed my family.'"

And on Saturday, nonprofit Bridging RVA will be out delivering groceries to those in need. For 52 straight Saturdays their drop, knock, leave initiative has mobilized 300 volunteers delivering groceries to 6,000 homes.

They've helped struggling families and people who have had to quarantine.

"Don't let pride be an issue. If people are struggling during this pandemic, we want to do everything we can to be good neighbors and help one another out," said John Sawyer. "This is really a we thing."
