PETERSBURG, Va. -- Police are investigating after a woman was shot in the neck in Petersburg Tuesday afternoon.
Police were called to the 200 block of Elm Street for a person shot at 3:39 p.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, they located a woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. She was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
There is no word on her condition at this time.
Police say that Tuesday's shooting marks the second time the Elm St. home has been targeted by a drive-by shooting, and that children were playing outside near the home at the time of the shooting.
Police are asking for help from the public to provide any information into the shooting.
