HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- The Varina-Enon Bridge was shut down Friday due to high winds after a tractor trailer overturned Friday morning.

The truck crashed at about 11:14 a.m. Friday, according to Virginia State Police. The bridge reopened later in the afternoon.

"The preliminary investigation reveals that the adult male driver of the tractor hauling an empty trailer was traveling southbound I-295 when it lost control due to a heavy gust of wind and overturned across all lanes of travel," a Virginia State Police spokesperson said. "The driver was wearing his seat belt and did not sustain injuries."

The crash was reported at mile marker 18.

The crash remains under investigation.
