CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. -- Deputies warned the man they said killed a woman after breaking into a Caroline County couple's home Saturday evening should be "considered armed and dangerous."

Deputies received a 911 call at 5:05 p.m. for a report of a shooting and stolen vehicle at a home in the 29000 block of Sparta Road.

Caroline County Sheriff Tony Lippa said the husband and wife "interrupted" a man who had broken into their home.

"When the male homeowner went inside to check the residence, the perpetrator exited the residence, shot the female, then took the homeowners' vehicle," Lippa said.

The victim, a 47-year-old woman, died at the scene, Lippa said.

Deputies said the suspect stole the couple's 2006 orange Honda Element SUV with personalized Virginia plates: CUKTL.

Additionally, Lippa said the homeowner spotted a brown or bronze Subaru Forrester or other small SUV in the area driven by a white male wearing an orange hunting hat.
