HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Police have released the name of an 18-year-old man killed in a double shooting at an eastern Henrico County apartment complex Friday afternoon.

Officers were called to the Audubon Village apartments in the 5000 block of MeadowLark Court for a report of a shooting just before 1:50 p.m.

Police said Toney Wyche III of Henrico County was critically injured in the shooting. He was transported to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, according to officials.

The woman, who had non-life-threatening injuries, has been released from the hospital, police said Saturday.

"Police are down in the cul-de-sac here of Meadowlark Court," Crime Insider Jon Burkett said not far from the scene Friday. "They have investigators... forensics down there. Their investigation is focused on that breezeway... [which] is where they believe the shooting took place."

Police said they would "be on scene into the afternoon hours" as they processed the site at the breezeway.

"There were a lot of kids out in this area playing at the time that the gunshots rang out," Burkett said. "There were a lot of people outside... [Police] believe someone out here may key information that will help them solve this case."
