RICHMOND, Va. -- A Richmond man who completed the Boston Marathon in Richmond Sunday did not have to run the race alone thanks to his wife.
Sports Backers Marathon Training Coach Barb Jewell said she reached out to other runners who were qualified to run the iconic marathon, which was held virtually this year.
Twenty of them decided to join her husband Jeff in completing the 26.2 mile race.
Barb, along with other Sports Backers training team members, family and friends made sure the runners stayed hydrated as they trekked along the Capital Trail.
The group even made a balloon arch and handed out medals for the finish line at Great Shiplock Park.
Organizers said folks who registered for the 124th Boston Marathon, which was originally planned for April, can run the race any time between Sept. 7–14.
