RICHMOND, Va. -- For the first time ever, the Richmond community can bring the magic of The Nutcracker home.
The Richmond Ballet will present The Nutcracker online this holiday season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A previously recorded performance from December of 2019 with the Richmond Symphony, will be available to stream December 11 through December 26.
“This will be the first time since the premiere of my original production of The Nutcracker in 1980 that Richmond Ballet will not perform our beloved classic,” said Artistic Director Stoner Winslett. “Seeing the joy that The Nutcracker brings to our audiences makes up so many of my precious memories, and I am extraordinarily grateful to all of the families who have made our production a part of their holiday tradition each year. Until we can once again gather in person around the Silberhaus’ enchanted Christmas tree, our entire Richmond Ballet team has curated some incredible experiences designed to enhance your virtual Nutcracker experience.”
Tickets start at $25.
Several virtual packages and exclusive in-person experiences are also available, including an in-home visit in which characters socially-distance while visiting your home.
