RICHMOND, Va. -- Police are investigating after a man was killed in a Richmond convenience store on Wednesday night.

Police identified the shooting victim as Leon T. Robinson, 27, North Avenue.

Around 9:15 p.m., police responded to the 804 Market at 1601 Mechanicsville Turnpike for reports of a person shot.

Once on scene, police found a man suffering from gun shot injuries. He later died as a result of his injuries.

The store reopened Thursday morning with crime scene tape from the night before still visible in the roadway.

"I just think that it’s crazy," neighbor Angela Collins said."The children are scared to play outside and we’re scared to go outside."

Collins said she's usually at the 804 Market every day, but now she doesn't think she'll be back for a while.

"It just goes to show that bullets don’t have anyone's name on them -- and you could be anywhere and it could happen to you," Collins said.

A reality, she said, that needed to change.

"I don’t know but something needs to be done," she added.

Detectives continue to investigate Robinson's death.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call CrimeStopers at 780-1000. Witnesses can send news tips, photos, and videos here.
