Police identify man killed in Eastern Henrico shooting

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Police have identified a Henrico man shot and killed in Eastern Henrico on July 30.

Police responded to the 2700 block of Byron Street around 11 p.m. Thursday for reports of a shooting and found a man dead on the scene.

The victim has been identified as 37-year-old Tyrone Onterall Jones, Jr.

Henrico Police Detectives arrested Danquail L. Ballou, 27, of Henrico County in connection to the homicide.

Ballou has been charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

A witness to the murder, who identified herself as a roommate of Ballou and a friend of the victim, said that she and the victim were hanging out at her home when the Ballou started shooting.

"11:30 or 11:45 and he walked in the room asked him what he was doing here and started shooting," the witness said. "he [the victim] started holding his arms up like 'please don`t shoot me please don't shoot me' and he asked him what he was doing here he just started shooting."

The witness said she thought she was going to be shot as well.

"I thought he was going to shoot me next because the way he turned around and looked at me he still had a gun in his hand... he had it close to my stomach and the way he looked at me like he was about to shoot me next."
