CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A Chesterfield man has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting Sunday night.
Officers responded to a residence in the 21000 block of Orange Hill Avenue for a report that an adult male had been shot shortly after 11 p.m.
When officer arrived at the scene, they located Richard F. Tucker, 31, who had been staying at the residence, suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Monday, police arrested 58-year-old William R. Johnson Jr., of the 21000 block of Orange Hill Avenue in connection to the shooting.
Police say their investigation indicates that Johnson inadvertently shot Tucker, who is known to him. No additional details have been released at this time.
Johnson has been charged with reckless handling of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
