Missing New Kent man headed to visit relative in Maryland found safe

NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. -- Police say that a missing New Kent man who was headed to visit a relative in Maryland over the weekend has been found.

Gordon Alonzo Thompson Sr., 64, left his home in the 5700 block of New Kent Highway at 9:00 p.m. on October 11, according to police.

"He stated that he was going to visit his sister in Upper Marlboro, Maryland; however, he never arrived at his destination. Furthermore, his sister was unaware of his intended visit," officials with New Kent Sheriff's Office said.

They say he has been safely located in Maryland and is now in touch with his family.
