Man charged with first-degree murder in South Richmond shooting

RICHMOND, Va. -- A man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to a shooting in Richmond's Blackwell neighborhood last week.

Patrick P. Wilkins was taken into custody by members of the U.S. Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force on Monday, August 10.

He has charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the shooting death of Kenneth Chappelle.

On Sunday, August 2, officers were called to the 1600 block of Maury Street for a report of a person down at 7:45 a.m.

Upon arrival, officers found Chappelle unresponsive. He was pronounced at the scene. The Medical Examiner has determined the cause of death was a gunshot wound.
