Police 'still need your help' after arrest in deadly Petersburg shooting

PETERSBURG, Va. -- A man wanted in connection to the fatal shooting of a 25-year-old man earlier this month in Petersburg was arrested Friday night, according to Petersburg Police.

Officials credited the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force for their help finding Jaquan Anderson, who was arrested without incident in the 1200 block of Paul Street.

Police said Anderson who was wanted in connection with the shooting of 25-year-old Tyrell Fields on Thursday, Oct. 8

When officers were called just before 6 p.m. to the intersection of Seaboard Street and Church Street for a report of person shot, they found Fields lying in the road suffering from gunshot wounds, according to police.

Fields was transported to an area hospital where he later died of his injuries.

Anderson was charged with Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, Reckless handling of a firearm and Possession of a firearm by convicted felon.

However, police said additional charges are pending.

"Although an arrest has been made, we still need your help with this investigation," police said.
