HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Henrico Police are investigating after a woman was discovered killed inside her home by medical emergency crews late Friday evening.
9-1-1 dispatchers received a call for a medical emergency at a home along the 6900 block of Holland St. around 3:53 p.m. Friday.
Four minutes later, when Henrico Police and Fire arrived they discovered an adult female dead with obvious signs of injury, according to police.
"Police are in the early stages of a domestic-related homicide investigation. Forensics and detectives have been on scene throughout the evening, collecting evidence and following up on information received," a police spokesperson said.
Police do have a suspect in custody, Crime Inside sources told Jon Burkett. Those same sources told Burkett the woman's significant other is currently under arrest and that the couples two young children may have witnessed parts of the horrific crime.
Sources also told Burkett this at least the 3rd time in the past three weeks police have been called to the home in for a domestic violence related issue.
"Homicide scenes take a significant amount of time to investigate, and our staff works tirelessly to thoroughly document and follow-up on leads provided by our community and we are grateful for that," says Lieutenant Matt Pecka.
The woman's identity is currently being withheld while detectives work to notify next of kin.
"As our criminal investigative staff continues to work directly with neighbors, friends and family, additional details will be forthcoming once they are available." Pecka added.
