HENRICO COUNTY, Va. -- Most of Richmond-based Elephant Insurance’s 650 workers will be working from home for the rest of the year, if they want to.
“Thanks to the planning across all departments, we were able to move over 650 employees to working from home eight weeks ago. The teams are working so well that we have decided to extend the option to the end of the year,” CEO Alberto Schiavon said. “We feel this offers everyone the opportunity to be safer at home without affecting our service standards.”
While Elephant does plan to reopen its western Henrico headquarters sometime after Labor Day, it will only be for a ”small number of essential employees.”
With most workers out of the building, Elephant said it would use that time to modify the offices to “allow for the eventual safe return of its workforce.” The company did not specify what those modifications would include.
The car insurance company arrived in Henrico in 2009.
