GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. -- In a turn of events, the Goochland Drive-In Theater will no longer show "Black Panther" this weekend to celebrate the life of its late star Chadwick Boseman.

In a Facebook post Monday afternoon, the drive-in says Disney Studios, for reasons unknown, has decided to no longer let theaters show the film.

"We are both saddened and embarrassed by this turn of events. And sincerely wish Disney would rethink their decision," GDIT wrote on Facebook.

In a statement to CBS 6, the theater says no reason was given by Disney and they are "extremely disappointed" by their decision.

The drive-in theater, located at 4344 Old Fredericksburg Road, initially announced they would show the film to honor Boseman, who died at the age of 43 after battling colon cancer.

A portion of proceeds from the showing was going to benefit cancer research.

GDIT says they are now scrambling to book another movie this weekend to celebrate the life of Boseman. The theater says they will post an update on their Facebook page as they learn more.
