PETERSBURG, Va. – A death investigation is underway in Petersburg after a young man’s body was discovered Friday morning near the Petersburg Sports Complex.
The body was discovered by a man driving into the sports complex to take his dogs on a walk.
Officers arrived to the scene in the area of Birdsong Road and Johnson Road. They spent hours combing the area where the body was found, looking for evidence.
At the same time, 2.6 miles away, officers were investigating a car, which appeared to be riddled with bullet holes in the Walnut Hill neighborhood near the intersection on Brookside and Berkeley.
Officers spent hours going over the car with a broken back glass.
Police have not released the identity of the victim at this time.
Police say this is an active investigation.
