STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. -- A 57-year-old woman was arrested and charged with murder in connection to the 2019 death of a four-month-old child, according to the Stafford Sheriff's Office.
Teresa Council, of Stafford, was formally charged with felony murder, involuntary manslaughter, and child neglect.
The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office and Fire and Rescue Department was called to Council's in-home daycare in November 2019 to help the child who was not breathing.
"The infant was transported to Stafford Hospital and later flown by helicopter to VCU Medical Center in Richmond for treatment," a spokesperson for the sheriff's office wrote in an email. "Unfortunately, on November 15, 2019 the infant passed away."
While details about the child's death were not released, the sheriff's office indicated the child was in Council's care the morning of November 12 when the infant went into cardiac arrest.
Council is being held in jail without bond. This is a developing story,
