Crash shuts down I-95 south in Petersburg; traffic backed up 5 miles

PETERSBURG, Va. -- A crash has backed up traffic for miles along I-95 south in Petersburg Friday afternoon.

The wreck, which is about half mile from Southpark Boulevard, closed all southbound lanes on the interstate.

As a result, traffic was backed up 5 miles as of 3:40 p.m., according to VDOT.

"The right lane is now open," VDOT officials said at 3:50 p.m. "Continue to expect delays and consider alternate routes."
