Arrest made after woman shot in car on Midlothian Turnpike

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. -- A man has been arrested in connection to a shooting in Chesterfield County late Friday night that left a woman critically injured.

Officers responded to a report of a shooting into a vehicle at the intersection of Midlothian Turnpike and Johnston Willis Drive at about 11:29 p.m.

The female victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police have arrested Michael Leonard Dabney, 37, of Richmond, in connection to the shooting. He has been charged with malicious wounding, attempted second-degree murder, shooting at an occupied vehicle, use of a weapon in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police say their investigation indicates that the victim and Dabney are known to each other.

Dabney is being held with no bond at the Chesterfield County Jail.
