HENRICO COUNTY, Va. — A Mechanicsville man faces murder charges after a body was discovered in a wooded area off Staples Mill Road in Henrico County last year.
Nickolas Ryan Driscoll, 41, of Mechanicsville, was charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault in connection with the October 2024 homicide.
The indictments were obtained through the Henrico Grand Jury on July 14.
The victim was identified as Cecil Lee Ryan Jr., 58, of Henrico.
Ryan's body was found on October 24, 2024, at approximately 3:33 p.m. in a wooded area along the 9100 block of Staples Mill Road, not far from Hungary Spring Road.
Police said they believed Ryan was homeless and living in the woods where his body was discovered.
Authorities have not yet released information about the circumstances of the crime or any potential connection between Driscoll and Ryan.
The investigation into the October homicide led to Driscoll being identified as a suspect, according to police.
