41-year-old man killed after ATV veers off road, strikes tree

PRINCE GEORGE, Va. -- A 41-year-old man was killed Wednesday evening in an All-Terrain Vehicle veered off the road and struck a tree in Prince George County.

Police were called to the 10000 block of Lawyers Road for an ATV crash at approximately 6:30 p.m.

The driver and victim in the crash, James Steward Blanding, of Prince George County, was transported by Med-Flight to VCU Medical Center.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

“A preliminary investigation by Prince George County Police revealed that the ATV was traveling on the roadway when it veered off the right side, striking a tree,” said a police spokesperson. “This incident is still under investigation.”
