PETERSBURG, Va. -- The Crater Health District said it anticipates moving into Phase 1B of its COVID-19 vaccination rollout at the start of next month.

The Crater Health District serves the cities of Emporia, Hopewell, and Petersburg and the counties of Dinwiddie, Greensville, Prince George, Surry, and Sussex.

"Crater Health District (CHD) is currently in Phase 1a for vaccine distribution," said Tara Rose, the spokesperson for the CHD."Based on our current schedule, CHD is reaching registration capacity limits for the next two weeks. CHD will officially move to Phase 1b starting on February 1st. This is to accommodate all of those pre-registered in phase 1a and to ensure vaccine doses for each vaccination site."

Rose added CHD's goal is to carry out distribution in "an efficient and sustainable manner to as many residents as possible."

For people wondering what phase of the vaccine program they qualify for, they can use this tool on the Virginia Department of Health's website.

Rose said if anyone that would like more information on how to register for a vaccine, they can call 804-862-8989 and ask for Tony Anderson or email at CraterCOVID19Vaccination@vdh.virginia.gov.
