Rectory fire next to Richmond church displaces two priests

RICHMOND, Va. -- Fire crews responded to a house fire in the rectory next to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Richmond Friday afternoon.

A rectory is a house where the priests live. In this case it is home for priests next door at St. Patrick’s Church.

Fire officials said workers were on the roof welding when the fire started.

Crews responded to the home on N. 25th and E. Broad streets for a roof fire at the home.

The fire was marked under control in 15 minutes.

The home received significant water damage as a result of firefighters putting out the blaze. The two priests who live there have been displaced.
