NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. -- Troopers are investigating what caused a fatal single-vehicle crash in New Kent County Saturday afternoon.

Sgt. Steve Vick with Virginia State Police said the wreck happened at 2:50 p.m. on Rockahock Road about a half a mile east of South Waterside Drive.

"The driver of a 2012 Ford Ranger was leaving his residence when the vehicle went down the hill in front of the house, crossed over Rockahock Road struck an embankment overturning and partially ejecting the driver," Vick said.

The driver, 86-year-old Calvin Martin of Lenexa died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
