The winter weather advisories have been extended, and now will remain in effect until 1 a.m. for the Richmond metro area and points to the south and west.  Areas under the advisory in the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula will see the advisory expire at 10 p.m.

Shallow arctic air will eventually be displaced by warmer air as southeasterly winds develop over the area. This is model data, and not perfect, but it shows how our overnight conditions will be opposite of what we generally see during winter weather events.

The temperatures will continue to rise overnight, rather than cool, making for much better conditions for the morning commute. It will still be slushy in areas that received 2+ inches of snow, so be careful tonight through early tomorrow if you are traveling. -Zach
