HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – A Henrico couple whose home was damaged in a fire last week received a special delivery thanks to one of their neighbors Saturday.

Joleene Bennet and her boyfriend, who are both blind, lost all of their belongings in the fire.

Daija Alford, one of their neighbors, said when she saw the firetrucks Monday outside their home on Goldthred Lane she knew she had to take action.

“Whenever you can lend a hand to someone that you should do that, God gives us blessings every day, some that we don’t deserve, some that we do deserve, and you know he puts people in the right place at the right time,” Alford said.

Joleene Bennett said Alford's good deed renewed her faith in the world.

“There is so much going on in the world today, so many people are shooting up places and all the terrorism and stuff, it makes me feel really happy that there are some people in the world that are still good people,” Joleene Bennett said.

The furniture was donated by the Chesterfield Mercy Mall. If you have furniture to donate, click here to learn how you can make a difference.
