A storm system in the southeastern United States will track towards Virginia on Monday.  Rain will begin to cross the North Carolina border around daybreak and turn heavier for areas well south and southwest of Richmond as the morning progresses.  The leading edge of the rain will begin to reach Richmond by early afternoon.

The rain will may be heavy at times later Monday afternoon into Monday night.  It will taper off early Tuesday morning, and the last showers should clear the coast by mid-afternoon.

Total rain will likely exceed one inch across most of central  Virginia, with many locations picking up an inch or more.

After dry weather late Tuesday through early Thursday, we could see a few scattered showers Thursday afternoon or evening.  High pressure will then provide dry weather from Friday through the weekend.

You can track the rain by using the CBS 6 Interactive Radar, which is also available in the CBS 6 Weather Authority App.
