HENRICO COUNTY, Va. - More than 270 schools across Virginia took part in International Walk to School Day. Locally, more than 30 events were held.
Walk to School Day began 18 years ago as a way to promote walker-friendly communities and encourage children to get more exercise throughout the day. students who get physical activity regularly improve their test scores and grades, according to a 2010 CDC study.
