Careful on the road Wednesday, it’s International Walk to School Day

RICHMOND, Va. — Over a dozen elementary and middle schools will take part in International Walk to School Day Wednesday across Richmond.  The schools have planned physical and academic activities to promote safer school routes, increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety and reducing carbon footprints, according to Richmond Public Schools.

The following schools are taking part in International Walk to School Day:

  • George Mason Elementary School – 8:30 a.m.  Bethlehem Baptist Church, 1920 Fairmount Avenue
  • J.E.B. Stuart Elementary School – 10:30 a.m. North Central Park, 3301 Fendall Avenue
  • Linwood Holton Elementary School – 8:45 a.m.  4009 MacArthur Avenue
  • Miles Jones Elementary School – 10 a.m.  200 Beaufont Hill Drive
  • Oak Grove Elementary School – 8:15 a.m.  2409 Webber Avenue
  • Swansboro Elementary School – 9 a.m.  3160 Midlothian Turnpike
  • Woodville Elementary School – 9 a.m.  2000 N 28th Street
  • Gordon Elementary School – meeting at the Smoketree Pool, school starts at 9:15a.m.
  • Greenfield Elementary School – meeting at the Greenfield Pool, school starts at 9:15a.m.
  • Swift Creek Elementary School – meeting at the St. Ledger’s Pool parking lot in Brandermill, school starts at 9:15a.m.
  • Clover Hill Elementary School – school starts at 8:25a.m.
  • Elizabeth Davis Middle School – school starts at 8:25a.m.
  • Robious Middle School – school starts at 8:25a.m.
  • Bellwood Elementary School – meet at 7-Eleven at 9700 Jefferson Davis Highway, school starts at 9:15a.m.
