RICHMOND, Va. -- Hot & muggy conditions will continue again Monday with highs reaching the mid and upper 90s. Onshore winds will keep coastal communities slightly cooler, but highs will still be in the lower 90s.
When you combine the heat with the humidity, the heat index ("feels like" temperatures) will be above 100° Monday afternoon into early Monday evening.
Another heat advisory is in effect from noon until 8 p.m. Monday. Make sure you keep yourself hydrated and stay in air conditioning as much as possible. Check on the elderly and pets, who are often most susceptible to heat-related illnesses.
Some temporary relief is possible from isolated thunderstorms that may pop up during the afternoon and early evening. However, rain chances in any one location are only about 20%.
A cold front will bring some relief to the high heat and humidity for the middle and end of the week.
