PETERSBURG, Va. -- People in Petersburg were asked to conserve water following a severe water main break in the city. The Petersburg Department of Public Utilities closed the 1600 block of South Sycamore Street, between Weyanoke Street and West Tuckahoe Street, in order to repair the break. The cause of the break has not yet been released.
"Residents and local businesses are asked to conserve water due to the severity of the break until the situation can be fully assessed," city spokesman Jay Alexander said. "Crews are currently on the scene and we will provide regular updates to the community."
